Stained Glass Window Restoration ~UPDATE~
The large window on the eastern wall of the sanctuary is called Christ knocking at the door. The image of ‘Christ Knocking at the Door’ is a 19th century motif for stained glass windows found in Europe and America. Of all our windows this window is in the worst condition of all of them. The wooden window frame in warped about 5-7″ and the estimate for repair is $81,300.00. The studio that will be doing the work is Cumberland Stained Glass out of Mechanicsburg, Pa. Due to their work load they will not be able to start until sometime late Sept. or early Oct 2013.
The repair of this window has been a longtime project for WMPC and has been supported by many members of the church; Jack Hart, Nora Taylor and Lisa Braun to name a few. Finding funds has been the number one challenge on this project. The project has been short funds until longtime member Don Ralston recently made the final donation of $8,000.00. His generosity has enabled us to move forward with the repair of this beautiful window. WMPC is very grateful. Thank you so much Don!
